![Recent steady rainfall across the region has raised water levels in major feeder reservoirs, securing domestic and commercial supply for Medellín and neighboring municipalities for the rest of the semester. MEDELLÍN, Colombia — Regional environmental and public service authorities in Antioquia have confirmed a steady, positive recovery in the water levels of key regional reservoirs following recent consistent rainfall across the department. The increase in capacity ensures a stable and uninterrupted water supply for the Aburrá Valley—including Medellín and surrounding metropolitan municipalities—throughout the remainder of the current semester. Key Reservoirs Regain Operational Stability According to monitoring reports from local utility operator Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM) and environmental authorities, precipitation in key feeder basins—such as the Riogrande II and La Fe reservoir systems—has reversed previous seasonal declines. The sustained intake has brought volume percentages back into optimal operational ranges, easing concerns regarding potential rationing or pressure reductions in urban networks. "The steady rainfall recorded over the past weeks in strategic catchment zones has allowed our main storage systems to recover efficiently, reassuring the community of a guaranteed drinking water supply for the months ahead," noted regional water management officials. Sustainable Management and Continued Monitoring Despite the favorable hydrological forecast, environmental agencies continue to emphasize the importance of responsible water usage among residents and industrial sectors. While reservoir levels remain on a positive upward trajectory, ongoing weather monitoring and watershed conservation efforts remain active to mitigate long-term climate variability and safeguard the metropolitan region's long-term water security.
