Medellin has today the first emergency center to attend in one place any type of sexual abuse or intrafamily violence. In 2018, these complaints increased by up to 8.6%.
The new emergency center to deal with cases of sexual abuse or intrafamily violence is located in the Seville neighborhood and from today receives complaints of these assaults or crimes. It has an emergency department, health assessment rooms, exams, psychological and social support for families and a gender equity center.
With the increase in complaints, the city closed 2018 with 8,686 cases of intrafamily violence, 73.5% against women and 3,741 cases of violence against children; For this reason, this comprehensive center will guarantee assistance to families seeking protection and prevention.
